How important are eBay product photos to your bottom line?

Smart sellers realise that customers only have two indicators to go on when deciding to purchase a product online:

  1. Product Description
  2. Product Photos

While the product description is vital, it actually comes SECOND to the product photos. This means the single most important element of your eBay product listing is actually the photos.

So, in this post we’ll discuss how to create the perfect product photos, or, rather, product GALLERIES.

Why galleries? Simply because having a number of high quality images on your product listing will almost certainly increase your sales.

Why are photos so important?

It might sound obvious but…

  1. They are the FIRST thing the buyer sees when looking through the results.
  2. This means that great photos result in more click throughs and naturally more sales.
  3. Great photos not only improve click through – but also buyer confidence, increasing sales.
  4. Bundled photos are more attractive and are being ranked higher by eBay at the moment.

Golden Rules for Great Photo Galleries:

There are three rules that we need to follow:

  1. All photos MUST be high definition and zoomable.
  2. If the product is available in different colours, all colours should be shown.
  3. If the product is available in different sizes, all sizes must be shown.
  4. Ensure all images have a correctly configured ALT Tag.

Ninja Tricks For Optimising Photos

  1. Bundle Products where possible to increase click throughs.
  2. Photos should be on a high contrast background.
  3. Background should also be clutter free to highlight product.
  4. You don’t need to use a professional photographer, but you will need a good camera.

Implementing the above recommendations should not only improve the ranking of your eBay listings, but also the Sell Through Rate. Make sure to implement every suggestion for maximum effect, as most eBay sellers will only adhere to 3 or 4 items on this list!
